Introduction:
My specialism, financial reporting, has been in the media spotlight since the start of this century, as a result of various accounting scandals. The term “accounting scandals” may be somewhat misleading, but it is a fact that financial reporting and the manner in which it is handled is an extremely relevant issue. Financial statements contain increasingly detailed information and the requirements that must be met in terms of transparency and completeness are becoming increasingly strict. I am passionate about closely following those developments and about my membership of the Dutch Accounting Standards Board. That enables me to optimally advise my clients and to litigate in their interest if necessary. In addition to financial reporting, my activities include M&A, private equity and capital markets, focusing in particular on the Life Sciences & Health Care sector. These past few years I have assisted many clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and biomedical industries, as well as in the healthcare and wellness industry. One of the reasons for my switch from Stibbe to Eversheds Faasen was therefore that at this firm I can further expand that specific sector focus and the group that operates in that sector. What remains is that I still believe everything revolves around personal contact with the client. Sincere interest, responsiveness and a proactive approach are the basis on which all good lawyers should work.
