It is taken as given that we will transfer to a sustainable power supply and binding agreements have been made in this regard at European level. Europe recognises that local electricity generation in particular must play a key role and that the business community must be supported in this regard by European, national and local authorities. Without authority, a market for sustainable energy will not be created rapidly enough. Municipalities and Provinces will have to take measures to promote the market for sustainable energy on a local level. Amongst others local authorities offer sustainable energy services or designate companies for that purpose.
